Groundnut rosette disease symptoms, types, distribution and management of the disease in Uganda
This study documents the findings of a nationwide survey in 2012 and 2013 covering 23 districts in Uganda. The surveys ascertained the predominant GRD symptom types, GRD incidences and severity, farmers’ knowledge and their GRD coping mechanisms, the current groundnut seed system and farming practices.

Agronomic response of soybean varieties to plant population in the Guinea Savannas of Nigeria
This study examined the agronomic responses of three contrasting soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] varieties to plant populations in two distinct agro‐ecological locations (at Samaru Zaria and Samaru‐Kataf) within the Guinea savanna region of northern Nigeria in the 2009, 2010, and 2011 growing seasons.

Field phenotyping of Soybean roots for drought stress tolerance
The strong association between root and nodule parameters and whole plant productivity demonstrated in this study suggests the potential application of simple root phenotypic markers in screening for drought tolerance in soybean.

Association of nodule performance traits with shoot performance traits of Common Bean under drought stress
The findings presented in this journal article suggest that nodule characteristics and SNF ability should be included with above- and below-ground traits as phenotypic markers in germplasm evaluation and breeding programs aimed at improving drought tolerance in common bean.

Potential benefits of drought and heat tolerance in groundnut for adaptation to climate change in India and West Africa
This study used the crop growth simulation model for groundnut (CROPGRO-Groundnut model) to quantify the potential benefits of incorporating drought and heat tolerance and yield-enhancing traits into commonly grown cultivar types at sites in India, Mali, and Niger.

Selection of intermittent drought tolerant lines across years and locations in the reference collection of groundnut
The results presented in this paper show a close interaction between environmental conditions and the genotypic response to intermittent drought, suggesting the need to carefully choose environments that truly represent target environments.

Response of old and new cowpea varieties to insecticide spray regimes in the Sudan Savanna of Nigeria
This paper determines the response to insecticide spraying of old cowpea varieties developed in the late 1970s and new varieties developed in the 2000s – in order to determine whether the new varieties have less requirement for spraying.
